How is the energy sector evolving, and what lies behind the firm’s long-term success in this area? We asked our partner and head of energy law, Barbora Balunová, three quick questions:

Our law firm has once again been ranked among the recommended firms in the field of energy. What do you believe is the main reason behind this repeated recognition?

I believe the key lies in the combination of expertise, teamwork, and the ability to respond to a rapidly changing environment. Energy law is always about providing clients with long-term and comprehensive advice — from the construction of energy facilities to regulatory matters and the structuring of contractual relationships.

We see this repeated recognition as confirmation of the continuous and systematic work of our team. I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge all my colleagues. The energy sector is undergoing significant changes. Which of these changes currently have the greatest impact on our clients?

The most significant factor is the intensity of change — not only in regulation, but also in the pressure to transform the entire sector, both within Slovakia, across the European market, and globally. The new design of the European energy market, decentralization of production, emphasis on renewable energy sources, decarbonization goals, technological development, and trade wars all play a role.

Today, clients face not only legislative changes and increased regulatory oversight, but also broader and more complex market transformations within the sector. This places high demands on legal advisory services, which must be closely connected with business and technical realities. Clients no longer expect merely a formal assessment of legal risks, but rather a reliable partner capable of helping them navigate change and challenges while shaping and achieving their vision.
